MCC golfers off to great start

MARCELLUS, NY – The defending national champion MCC golf team kicked off the regional portion of the season with three victories over the weekend.

The Tribunes placed first at the Hawk Invitational hosted by Mohawk Valley CC on Friday.  Their team score of 311 was nine strokes better than runner-up Onondaga.

Anthony Colosi (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) was the individual medalist with a round of 77.  Alex McKee (New Market, ON/Sir William Mulock), Shane Dobesh (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder), and Mike Catalano (Syracuse, NY/Cicero-North Syracuse) all finished tied for second with 78’s.

The Tribunes played even better Saturday at the Broome CC Tournament, finishing with a 304 that was 19 strokes better than second-place Onondaga.  Catalano finished with a 75 to lead Monroe.  McKee and Tim McCall (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) fired 76s, followed by Colosi at 77.

MCC wrapped up the weekend with a win at the Links at Sunset Ridge on Sunday.  The Tribunes finished at 306, with OCC next at 314.  Dobesh medaled with a 1-under 71.  Catalano shot a 77, Mckee a 78, and Colosi an 80 to round out the scoring.
