MCC splits pair with Ulysse

ROCHESTER - The MCC hockey team defeated Team Ulysse 8-5 Friday and lost to the the same team 2-1 Saturday.

The defeat was the first of the season for Monroe, which is now 7-1.

Zach Lewis (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) paced the Tribunes with two goals and one assist in the victory. Daniel Turgeon (Centennial, CO/Cherokee Trail) added a goal and three assists, and Mike Boyd (Vancouver, BC/Sullivan Heights) had one goal and one assist.

MCC took the lead Saturday on a power play goal by Matt Johnston (Calgary, AB/Bishop O'Brien) midway through the first period. Erich Haney (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) and Max Hedenbergh (Gothenburg, Sweden/Goteborgs Hogre Samskola) assisted on the play.

That was the only score of the game for Monroe, as Ulysse responded with two of its own to get the win.
