Tribune hockey opens with victory

ERIE, Penn.- The MCC hockey team opened the 2011-12 season with a 7-1 victory over the Mercyhurst Club team Friday evening.

Zach Lewis (West Genesee) paced the Tribune attack with two goals, while Erich Haney (West Genesee), Connor Smith (Duxbury), Max Hedenbergh (Goteborgs Hogre Samskola), and Mike Boyd (Sullivan Heights) all added a goal and an assist.

Dan Going (Saratoga Springs) also scored for Monroe (1-0).

Rick Hennard (Royal Oak) made 35 saves in goal for MCC.
