MCC blanks Mercer in opener

ROCHESTER - The MCC women's soccer team opened up the season with a resounding 8-0 victory over visiting Mercer County Community College Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Tribunes (1-0) scored three times in the opening half and tallied five more goals in the second half to cruise to the win.  MCC outshot Mercer 20-7 on the day.

Shauna Eccles (Dublin, Ireland/Larkin) opened the scoring early in the game and later added two assists.  Emma Perrett (Blackpool, England/Montgomery) and Alison Campbell (Marion, NY/Marion) scored later in the half to give Monroe a 3-0 lead at the break.

The Tribunes continued the offensive pressure in the second half.  Catherine Mucha (Nunda, NY/Keshequa) scored twice, and Karly Tolentino (Greece, NY/Greece Odyssey), Jori Semrau (Greece, NY/Greece Arcadia), and Campbell all added goals to provide the final margin.

Hannah Conine (Livonia, NY/Livonia) and Chloe Crook (London, England/Holy Family) combined to make six saves for the shutout.
